How Healing Others Heals Me
One of the signals that has always affirmed my calling as a psychic channel/medium and shamanic healer is the boost that *I* often receive when I work with my clients! I’ve long known that I just feel better after a session. I’m more deeply rested and less stressed out, which ultimately leaves me feeling more energetic.
However, this was always just my intuition. Internally, I was aware that channeling and energy healing gave me energy, but it’s also something that I love doing. I assumed the mood boost was just a side effect of enjoying my work, especially given what I’ve done to live in alignment with my Soul’s guidance.
… But recently, I had the exciting experience of seeing evidence of this boost in real time, courtesy of my new smart watch!

Before we get into what we’re looking at here, some context: in addition to my own business, I also work remotely at Southwestern College as a student success coach. Working with students is incredibly fulfilling, yet I am not channeling, and the admin is, well, admin work! There are also the natural stressors that can come with any traditional work environment. Even when I’m enjoying the work, pressure can mount. Or, more accurately – the work doesn’t necessarily recharge me.
On an early fall weekday last month, I was working for the college. It was a rather normal day, full of student coaching and admin work, though I did have time for a quick nap around 2:00 pm. I make a point of getting as much rest as I can – something I’ve detailed in another blog post about deep rest that may pique your interest! I completed my work that day feeling my usual level of fatigue, but still rested enough and excited to work with my personal clients later that evening.
When you look at the Body Battery chart from my smart watch, you can see my energy, stress, and rest levels throughout my day – but you can also see the story of that day. The first thing you’ll probably notice is how my energy levels (in white) were at their peak when I woke up in the morning, followed by a gradual decline throughout the day. The other thing that might stick out is the bright orange spike in stress that, if you look at the timeline, persists through most of my college workday.
But at the end of the day, I noticed something really interesting. I’d started working with clients right after I completed my work for the day, channeling and performing Energy Body Alignment until about 8 pm. If you look at those hours on the chart, you’ll notice a very conspicuous replacement of orange spikes representing stress with blue ones representing rest. And even more telling, you can see an actual boost in my energy level during the time I was doing the EBA work, from 6:30-7:30! My Body Battery score went up 3 points after steadily declining all day, even when I took a nap.
How Psychic Channeling Works In The Body
So, what could explain this? When I channel, I tune into a frequency. As I listen, I feel an opening in my crown chakra, and the stronger the frequency, the wider it gets. Once the energy reaches a certain frequency, it also flows through my heart chakra, then out through my hands and into the person with whom I’m working. Though I am separate from the energies I channel – serving as a conduit for healing energy – It would seem that by doing what I am called to do, I am also caring for myself in the process.
This is also not to say that the work I do isn’t stressful on the body; at times I can overextend myself when engaging in intuitive, psychic, and energetic work as well. But at the same time, it is affirming to gain this deeper insight into how my work aligns with my Soul’s guidance and nourishes the body.
Our bodies and spirits have a way of letting us know when we’re on the right path, and seeing this evidence of something I’ve long suspected was gratifying and exciting. It’s a reminder that our intuition will guide us towards using our capacities in a way that supports our entire being – that our work as healers and channels is not one-sided, no matter how separate we feel from these energies as we channel them. We must tend to ourselves as we tend to those with whom we share our gifts.
