Things Are Shifting…

Recently, a 50-ish woman asked a question about why her energy was flagging in the Dragonfly Den Rapid Reading session. She has a health issue that is not life threatening but does require surgery.

The answer the guides asked me to relay was applicable to most/all many midlife women, so I summarized their response below. I hope it is helpful to you.

“Your energy will get better after the surgery. There is a connection to that. But there is also a need to shift the circumstances of your lifestyle. It will be helpful to slow down. To sleep more, rest more, do relaxing things more rather than moving around so much. Let people come to you, but even as they do, to not overdo.

You are in a transition…slowing down in your home, personal, and social life. It’s a time of turning inward. It may feel depressive, but it’s not. It will be uncomfortable because it will be new. It’s not forever, but there is a distinct turning inward, retooling, slowing down where you are nourishing yourself, resisting that urge to be doing everything and seeing everybody.

Let go of FOMO.

It’s OK. They all still love you and appreciate you and will be there when you reemerge. You’ll come out the other side of this time and the surgery noticing “Oh, wow. I feel better!”. But it requires all this, to slow down and readjust.

It is hormonal, menopausal, and time of life. In Ayurveda it is said that women start turning inward in our mid-to-late-40It is hormonal, menopausal, and time of life. The guides continued…

“We begin cultivating a slow steadiness. A movement towards the spiritual, wise crone, and towards death (because we all end up there at some point!). We begin living more of our lives in that in between space and less in the physical, active, everybody’s gotta do everything space.

It a hard transition, I think. At least it has been for me. We don’t all make it with ease and grace and some of us fight against it. But there’s a point at which our bodies say, “No. not that anymore.”

Our spirit can be really strong, our bodies too, but they just don’t want to do things at the pace we’ve done them before. There’s nothing wrong – no major disease necessarily. This is a natural process of slowing down that’s beautiful, deepening, enriching.

We come almost to a complete stop and then we turn this corner and pick up the pace to some extent. But we do it differently. We choose the things we really want to do, that really matter and we put our energy into those things.“

Whether you are a midlife woman or going through a different kind of transition, this kind of advice can be helpful. Transitions take the time they take. Sometimes they move quickly, sometimes slowly. It’s our work to synch ourselves to the pace of the energy directing the transition.

The astrology through March is one of transition. Three  planets change signs – Saturn, Jupiter, and Pluto. You can read more about these shifts in Chani Nicholas’ blog on The 6 Major Astrology Shifts in 2023. Wherever they land in your chart, expect some changes – I’m already feeling them!
